For shorter eyebrow hair, trim off an additional 0.1 mm, starting from the ends to the front of your eyebrows.

SHORTER AND FULLE

If you like flaunting a fuller brow size, which is in vogue this season, you should stick to a shorter length. It creates the correct impact and the face looks perfectly maintained – neither wide nor short. You might not agree to the idea of eyebrow length justifying the

You can take a break from keeping the tail of you eyebrows pointed and extended out. Try the trimmed tail pattern on your face next time. This will definitely be one of the best eyebrow shapes for heart shaped faced. Go for for a subtle tail ends tht do not bulge out much. It creates a nice impact on heart shaped face and look different than usual. If interested in tying something new, that will transform your looks manifolds, go for this pattern for sure.

How to apply eye makeup to enhance close-set eyes?

Bonjour / hello welcome back flawless beauties, I hope you all are having a great day so far and you are healthy and well. I had an amazing day and I’m fine , healthy and well.

If you have close-set eyes it’s not the end of the world! I have close-set eyes too and I have some special tips just for you to enhance your eyes.  A very important tip for close-set eyes is to make them SMOKEY.  Yup! Smokey is the way to go here.

quickgrid_201642118592316.jpg

CREATE DISTANCE FOR WIDER LOOKING EYES

The easiest way to do this is to concentrate light colors on the inside part of the eyelid and darker or brighter colors on the outermost quarter of the lid and the upper lashline. A shimmery highlight around your tear duct  will create a little more visual distance between your nose, providing a little more balance making your eyes look a little further apart.

STEP 1

Make sure your eyebrows are well-groomed, trimmed, and shape beautifully, according to the shape of your face.

TOOLS FOR THE JOB

Slanted eyebrow brush: Use to define and fill brows for a beautifully symmetrical appearance.

Spiral eyebrow brush or lash / brow comb / brush: Use for taming unruly hairs, the stiff bristles smooth and comb eyebrows into form. When shaping, use to brush hairs upwards and trim the excess for neatly groomed brows.

          STEP 2

Prep your eye lid with a light layer of eye shadow primer to help create a smooth canvas on which you are going to apply your eye shadow. It’ll prevent eye shadow from creasing, fading, and also helps eye shadow last longer. For general, every day use, you want to use an eye shadow primer that matches your complexion or is just a little bit lighter. If you’re doing a smoky eye eye makeup look with dark eye shadow, look for a darker eye shadow primer to add depth to your look. If you are using multiple bright colours and you really want them to pop, try a white eye shadow primer. Consider colour correcting eye shadow primer if you have dark circles or want to brighten your eyes. Eye shadow primers with a yellow or peach cast will neutralize the purples, browns, and “bruise” shades of under eye circles. An eye shadow primer with a little bit of green can neutralize pink or reddish skin.

TOOLS FOR THE JOB

Concealer / camouflage brush or your finger: Use to apply concealer but can also use to apply your eye shadow primer.

     STEP  3

Apply eye shadow base to help create a smooth canvas on which you are going to apply your eye shadow. An eye shadow base will help to make eye shadow adhere to the eyelid. Choose the same colour eye shadow base as your eye shadow primer.

TOOLS FOR THE JOB

Concealer / camouflage brush or your finger: Use to apply concealer but can also use to apply your eye shadow base.

STEP 4

Then, apply a neutral shade that is close to your skin tone over the eyelid and stop where your brow bone begins.

TOOL FOR THE JOB

Eye shadow brush (large): Use to apply eye shadow all over colour.

STEP 5

Apply a highlighter shade under the arch of your eye brow, and also apply this highligh to the tear duct of the eyes.

TOOL FOR THE JOB

Tapered highlighter brush (small): Use to apply highlighting powder.

STEP 6

Continue by start at the outer corner of your eyes. Apply your accent or bright color to the outer V part of your eyelid and spread it out towards the brow bone and toward the inner corner, but not all the way over to the nose. You can also use this colour on your lower lashline for definition. So line from mid-eye to outer corner .

TOOLS FOR THE JOB

Eye shadow brush (medium): Use to apply eye shadow all over colour.

STEP 7

Sweep your mid-tone colour across the eyelid.

Carefully blend away all the harsh edges.

TOOLS FOR THE JOB

Eye shadow brush (medium): Use to apply eye shadow all over colour.

STEP 8

If you were born with straight or limp lashes, grab an eyelash curler! Close your eye slightly, and then open; all of your lashes should be move into the curler’s mouth. Always hold the eyelash curler so that the mouth is parallel to your lashes.

TOOLS FOR THE JOB

Lash / brow comb / brush: Use to comb through to separate clumpy lashes.

STEP 9

After apply mascara to finish the look.

TOOLS FOR THE JOB

Lash / brow comb / brush: Use to remove excess mascara.

Want intensity?

Apply eyeliner on both your upper and lower lash lines, but only half way on your lower lash line, so line from mid-eye to outer corner.  Use a nude or even white on the waterline will help brighten your eyes.

TOOLS FOR THE JOB

Smudger brush: Use to line your upper lash line with eye shadow.

Fine point eyeliner brush: Use to apply gel, liquid or cream eyeliner.

Flat eyeliner brush: Use to apply gel, liquid or cream eyeliner.

Parts of the eye

Bonjour / good afternoon flawless beauties, welcome back to Flawless Beauty Blog by Nakiba. Today’s post is about “parts of the eye”.

Alors, when applying eye shadow it’s important to understand the layout of the eye. Knowing this basic information will be helpful for applying eye shadow and understanding the different effect that can be accomplished just by using different colours and texture on different parts of the eye. Eye shadow application is all about creating an illusion by using different shades and textures to achieve certain effects. So let’s get right into the different parts of the eye and some basic effects that can be created by using different techniques.

PARTS OF THE EYELID

Parts of the eye.jpg

Visually divide the eyelid in to three vertical segments-inner, middle and outer. The inner portion is closest to your tear duct, the middle portion is of course in the centre and the outer portion is closest to your ear.

You can find your crease by feeling along the eye for the eye socket or the bone right above your eyeball. The crease falls right along that bone. Some people have well defined crease meaning the eyelid actually crease in that area while some may have to feel around for a crease.

LID

The lid is the area right below your crease. The amount of space will vary from person to person. Now what you have on the lid will be your choice. You may go for a single colour, or numerous colours.

MIDDLE

The typical eye shadow application with three colours will call for the lightest shade in the inner lid, the medium shade on the middle of the lid and the darkest hue on the outer lid. This gives the eye an elongated dimensional effect.

Another effect is going with shimmery shade on the middle lid and deeper shades on the inner and outer lid areas. This will give a wider eye illusion to the eye by bringing the focus to the centre on the lid.

CREASE

The crease is probably the thickest area of the eye to contend with. As stated before the crease falls right along the socket bone of your eye right above your eyeball.

Think of the crease as the middle of your eyelid if you visually divide your eyes into three horizontal. The crease area can be as thick as you choose. It may even encompass the brow bone area depending on the desired effect. For instance, in many cut – crease looks crease colours to extend high into the brow bone area. For a subtle look a crease is concentrated in a tight area.

For a simple look the crease colour is usually concentrated in the outer area and gradually fades as you get closer to the inner part of the eye. The colour also tends to be a darker colour than the lid colour to add dimension to the look.

For this area a matte or semi – matte shade will add depth to the crease while a frost or shimmery shade will reflect light. The crease colour is usually darker and coordinates with the colour (s) on your lid. Your choice in colour and texture will vary based on the desired effect.

BROW BONE

The brow bone area is just what it sounds like. It’s the space between the crease and the eye brow and falls right on the bone below your eye brow.

The width of the brow bone area varies from person to person and even eye to eye. Some eyes have a lot of brow space but limited lid space. This can be evened out by the use of eye shadow to create the illusion of larger lid and smaller brow bone area. In this area case the crease colour would need to be higher than the natural crease of the eye.

Consider the brow bone space as your blending area. This is where the crease colour should gradually fade into the highlight colour. In other words, this area is used to create a gradient of colour from crease to highlight. It’s easiest to use natural colour that is close to skin tone here to help blend out harsh lines and produce a seamless blend. You may also use a higher colour than the crease colour to achieve a similar effect.

OUTER V

The outer V is also a tricky area for a lot of beginners. It’s the outer most corner of your eye furthest away from your nose; it’s called the outer V because it is often shaped like a sideways “V”. But it can also be rounded out and shaped like a “C” instead for a softer look.

Your accent colour or your bright colour is usually placed in the outer V to create a contour effect and add dimension to the look. Accent shade or bright add illusion of a sunken crease area.

A trick I found to locating your outer V is to feel along the outer edge of your eye along your eyeball.

For this area it’s best to use a matte or semi shade since you want to create a shadow / contour effect. Shimmery shade will reflect light and therefore not create a ‘deepening’ effect.

HIGHLIGHT

The highlight area is perfectly named since it is the highest point of the eye just below the eye brow. A light colour is usually placed on this area to accentuate and lift the eye.

A light shimmery shade on this area and the colour should the other colours in the overall look. If the look is mostly shimmer then it’s best to use a matte or semi-matte shade to contrast against the frosty textures.

UPPER LASH LINE

The upper lash line is the area right along and above the top eyelashes. A darker colour, in the form of an eyeliner pencil, gel eyeliner, or eye shadow is usually places along the area to accentuate the eyelashes and make them appear fuller.

LOWER LASH LINE

The lower lash line is the area right along and below the bottom eyelashes. This area is usually used to enhance the eye with a colour or a smoky liner. It can also be left blank for a simple look.

TEAR DUCT

The tear duct is the inner most point of the eye closest to the nose. A light colour can be applied in the area for a highlight. This will help to brighten the eye and add dimension to a look.

WATERLINE

The waterline is the inner rim of your lash line – both top and bottom. The waterline is usually lined with a pencil or gel / cream eyeliner.

For the lower waterline most people use black or a dark brown for a darker sultry look. However, for a fresh, brightening effect you may use white or a fresh colour. This can also make your eyes appear larger than they really are.

Lining the upper waterline is called tight lining. This is done using a dark colour (95% of the time it’s black) and will make the top lashes appear much fuller and thicker.

What are colours?

Hello!!

How is eveyone? I hope you all are fine. Today I am going to explain what are colours.

Colour is such a fun thing to look at and enjoy but it is often difficult to communicate about. The reason is that the word use to describe colour are vague and frequently misunderstood. Not only are technical terms such as “value”, “saturation” and “chromaticity” confusing but even simple words such as “bright”, “pure”, “shiny” and “dim” are hard to use accurately. Even experts struggle without a set of standardized definitions.

A strong understanding of how colour works is vital to effective makeup application. Everyone sees colour a little differently, and it may take a while to learn to see colour naturally and easily.

I have tried to compile a glossary containing the words and concepts stated above and although I do not propose to be the sole authority on colour, the definitions you find here are supported by other mathematical and scientific arguments.

THE COLOUR WHEELIMG_20160909_143145.jpg

WARM AND COOL COLOURS

IMG_20160909_143742.jpg

Learning the difference between warm and cool colours is essential to your success as a makeup artist. This is the basis of all colour selection, and understanding the difference will enable you to properly enhance your client’s colouring.

Warm colours are the range from yellow and gold through the oranges, red-oranges, most reds, and even some yellow-greens. Cool colours suggest coolness and are dominated by blue, greens, violets, and blue reds.

HUE

This is what we usually mean when we ask “what color is that?” The property of color that we are actually asking about is “hue”. For example, when we talk about colours that are red, yellow, green and blue, we are talking about hue. Different hues are caused by different wavelengths of light. Therefore, this aspect of colour is usually easy to recognize.

PRIMARY COLOURS

IMG_20160909_141456.jpg

Primary colours are fundamental colours that cannot be obtained from a mixture. The primary colours are yellow, red, and blue.

SECONDARY COLOURS

IMG_20160909_141529.jpg

Secondary colours are obtained by mixing equal parts of two primary colours. Yellow mixed with red makes orange. Red mixed with blue makes violet. Yellow mixed with blue makes green.

TERTIARY COLOURS

IMG_20160909_141633.jpg

Tertiary colours are formed by mixing equal amounts of a secondary colour and its neighbouring primary colour on the colour wheel. These colours are named by primary colour first, and the secondary colour second. For example, when we mix blue (a primary colour) with violet (a neighbouring secondary colour), we call the results blue violet.

COMPLEMENTARY COLOURS

Primary and secondary colours directly opposite each other on the colour wheel are called complementary colours. When mixed these colours cancel each other out to create a neutral brown or gray color. When complementary colours are place next to each other, each colour makes the other look brighter, resulting in a greater contrast. For example, if you place blue next to orange, the blue seems bluer, the orange brighter. Try this with markers or coloured paper to compare. The concept of complementary colours is useful when determining colour choice. For example, the use of complementary colours will emphasize eye colour, making the eyes appear brighter. This is completely subjective and open to interpretation and differences in opinion. A more exact definition is “any two colours that, when mixed together produce a neutral gray.

CHROMATICITY

Think about a colour’spurity” when describing its “chromaticity” or “CHROMA” property of colour tells us how pure a hue is. That means there is no white, black, or gray present in a colour that has high chroma. These colours will appear very vivid and well,… pure. This concept is related to and often confused with saturation. However, we will continue to use terms separately because they refer to distinct situations.

SATURATION

Related to chromaticity, saturation tells us how a colour looks under certain lighting conditions. For instance, a room painted a solid colour will appear different at night than in daylight. Over the course of the day, the colour is the same, the saturation changes. This property colour can also be called intensity. Be careful not to think about saturation in terms of light and dark rather in terms of pale or weak and pure or strong.

VALUE

When we describe as “light” or “dark” we are discussing its value or “brightness”. This property of colours tells us how light or how dark a colour is based on how close it is to white. For instance, canary yellow would be considered lighter than navy blue which in turn is lighter than black. Therefore, the value of canary yellow is lighter than navy blue and black.

LUMINANCE

Although brightness is often used interchangeably with luminance, we prefer to use term “lightness”. This concept deals with many of the variables as value but using a different mathematical equation.

TINTS, TONES AND SHADES

These terms are often used inappropriately but they describe fairly simple colour concepts. The important thing is how the colour varies from original hue. If white is added to a colour, the lighter version is called a “hint”. If the colour is made darker by adding the results is called a “shade”. And if gray is added, each gradation gives you a different “tone”.

What is highlight colour?

Hello!

How is everyone doing? Today I am going to explain what is highlight colour.

There’s this magical little trick in the makeup world known as highlighting. Why is highlighting so magical? These optical illusions has the ability to draw attention to eyes making them brighter, appear bigger, lighter, more awake, lifted and gives you an overall more youthful look.

There are two main areas of your eyes that you’ll highlight; the inner corner (tear duct) and brow bone.

Highlighting the inner corner (tear duct) of your eyes instantly makes your eyes looks brighter, creating a more open appearance to the eye. By applying your eye shadow like that will make your eyes look fresher, and more awake.

Adding a highlight to the brow bone will give your eyes a lifted appearance by drawing the attention upward. While you can totally use the same highlight shade as you used on the inner corner (tear duct) of the eye, choosing a matte eye shadow that’s a shade or two lighter than your natural skin tone will illuminate the eye area in a more natural way.

Or

You can use a light shimmery eye shadow to give you that touch of glow to your makeup look.

TIPS

White highlighter will make the whites of the eyes look fresh and awake. Pink higlighter adds a bit of innocent, youthful glow.

What are mid – tone colours?

Today I am going to explain what mid-tone colours are. For many of us, it can be confusing when hearing this term or try to figure out where to apply this color to create certain eye makeup look. This story will help you have a better understanding and be familiar with this term used when talking about colours, as I will be using this term  quite often in my upcoming posts.

Mid-toned colours are in the middle of the tonal spectrum, neither dark nor light. By eliminating changes or contrasts – like shadows or bright light – in the application of eye makeup process, you will have to develop a different way of looking at colours and translating in on to the canvas.

WHAT IS TONAL SPECTRUM?

Tonal spectrum colours are the group of colours that a ray of light can be separated into. Mid – tone colours are used for contouring and should be at least two shades darker than your base colour. These colours get applied to the crease and inner corner of the eye unless you have wide – set eyes, mid – tone colours should be applied on the outer corner of the eye. If you want to do a three or four colour designs, use the next darker mid – tones, it should be applied to the outer end of the lighter mid – tone colour.

Your mid-tone shade is the most important shade, but can also be the most boring. The middle shade of your three eye shadow colours, it is deeper than your highlight shade and lighter than your contour shade (accent colour). It’s the first step in the blending process and creating definition in the crease of the eyes. This shade should be the most natural – an extension of your skin tone. You’ll change your highlight and contour colours more often than your mid – tone. Generally, your mid – tone colour should have a matte finish to gives the lid a subtle, natural appearance. Mid – tone colours starts the reshaping of your eyelids, because everything we add depth to will visually recede.

What are accent colours?

Accent colours are the darkest or the brightest colours you will use when creating an eye makeup look.  Accent colours are colours that are used to emphasize a particular area.

Whether you want to create a two-colour design, three-colour design or a four-colour design if you choose to create any one of those three designs you will have to choose an accent color(s) to create colour schemes.

What is color scheme?

Color schemes are often described on terms of logical combination of colours on the color wheel.

Choosing your favourite colour is easy. Choosing more than two tone color scheme for your eye makeup? Not so much. Applying eye makeup doesn’t have to be complicated. Mistakes come easily, and the frustration might leave you reaching for no eye makeup at all. But don’t wipe the slate clean just yet. I will explain to you in an upcoming story, for paring the right accent colours with each of the primary and secondary colours and more.

By applying eye shadow in different colours and texture, you can intensify or soften your regard, create a certain mood, and even improve your eye shape, depending on the look you are trying to achieve. To obtain the best results, you not only need to choose the right eye shadow color, but also apply it in the most flattering way. I will also explain in an upcoming story.

Remember, practice makes perfect and the key is finding the colours that compliment your eye colour.  This technique is so easy when you get the hang of it.

If you are not sure what are the colours that compliment your eyes you can have a look at my pervious stories on what are the complimentary colours for blue eyes, brown eyes and green eyes.

What is the best eye makeup colors to compliment green eyes?

Bonjour à tous, welcome back to FLAWLESS BEAUTY BLOG BY NAKIBA.

Do you have green eyes? Want to make people even more envious when they see you with the perfect eye makeup?

Well, every makeup bag needs the right neutral eyeshadow palette, and for those with green eyes, one that got a little sparkle that will bring out the golden flecks on the irises.

Red is the complimentary color to green. But red eyeshadows tend to make the eyes look tired or bloodshot, pure red tones are not recommended. Instead, use brown base reds. These include red-orange, red-violet and violet. Popular choices are coppers, rusts, pinks, plums, mauves and purples.

Green eyes

Green eyes is a very rare eye colour, but is found most frequently in Northern and Central Europe. Neutrals and taupe eye shadow with warm undertones are flattering. Plus, on that has sparkly will make your green eyes pop.

Hazel eyes

Hazel eyes mostly consist of shades of brown and green. Much like grey eyes; hazel eyes may appear to “change colour” from green to light brown to gold. Individuals eyes appear to be one closest to the pupil, another colour a little farther our, and another colour around the edge of the iris are likely to have hazel eyes.

EYELINERS

Red compliments green on the colour wheel, so pick shades with reddish undertones. Amethyst, rust, mahogany, aubergine and bronze are particularly dazzing on green eyes. However, they can make you look tired, especially if diffused into pinkness.

For hazel eyes

Because hazel eyes are made up of both brown and green undertones, you can choose which colour to intensify. See the green flecks sparkle by tracing peepers with a steely grey or aubergine eyeliner, or enhance the yellow accents arounds the iris with warm browns and metallic golds.

MASCARA

A black mascara is a universal rule that everyone looks good in black mascara. Even on the fairest skin. It provides a dramatic frame for the eyes. For darker skinned tones, it adds drama to fringe.

Green tones mascara also look glorious on hazel eyes. Green can be complimentry to any range of skin tones, just opt for neutral tones in your eye shadow, let your eyelash do the talking. If you prefer just a tease of colour, apply a coat of primer (clear) mascara or basic black, then swipe on the green from mid-shaft to tips.

TIPS

For a soft chic look, I recommend a monochromatic palette. To achieve that look, mosses, sages and green-golds are the colors you should use.

For a fresh look that will make your eyes brighter, I suggest using purples, pinks, roses and mauves. The warmer the undertones, the more flattering your eyes will look.

Lining the lid in black first helps to make the the eyes look less tired.

Have fun and be creative, mixing and matching colours to suit your personality, what you are wearing or the event or situation for which you are dressing up.

Try different types of eye shadows like powders, minerals, cream, gels and pencils to determine which one works best for you.

Mix and match more than one colour of eye shadow or mulitple shades within the colour spectrum in a rainbow or ombre effect for an over- the – top eye look.

Apply shimmers in metallic colours on top of a normal eyeshadow colours to add depth or achieve an unusual look.

NOTE: Before you pick any of these eye makeup colour, just remember no matter what always take your skin tone into consideration. What is the best eye make up colors to compliment blue eyes?

Hi, blue eyed beauties your eyes might be a recessive trait, but if you’ve got them, they deserve to be your dominant feature. Bring them into focus with eye shadows, eyeliners, and mascaras.

To make your blue eyes pop use contrasting hues ranging from brown, mauve and dark purple. For deep eye shadow color (accent colour) use orange, gold, peach, and dusty rose, for lighter colors (mid-tone colours) use neutrals.

People with blue eyes generally fall into three color categories.  There is light blue or “icy blue”,  with hues of silver; grey blue, with hues of blue and gray and a bit of green, or even a hint of yellow; and deep blue, with hues of dark and light blue.

For light blue eyes or “Icy blue”

I recommend using rich, neutral browns and orange-bronze tones. This will add depth against the lightness of your blue eyes for a particularly striking finish.

Grey blue eyes

All orange-browns and bright orange/coral shades will bring out the blue tones in the iris. When using vibrant orange tones, my best advice would be to keep the vibrant color on the upper lid and slightly blend a small amount into the brown shadow which is use on the lower lid. Using the vibrant orange on the lower lid without being supported by the brown can leave the eyes looking tired.

Deep blue eyes

I recommend neutral-browns and soft peach/salmon tones, using these tones will enhance your deep blue eyes.

EYELINERS

For eyeliners, I recommend using terra-cotta, champagne, dark brown or navy. Contrasting shades of eyeliner will bring out the eye colour, so copper and gold will make blue eyes appear even bluer, when warm metallics pick up gold flashing in the iris, they really light up cool blue eyes. Dark brown or navy blue eyeliner is a beautiful enhancement to your blue eyes.

You can also use black eyeliner, this will make blue eyes appear more grey or silver, which is still beautiful but just not bluer.

MASCARA

For mascaras a black one is a universal rule that everyone looks good in black mascara. Eeven on the fairest skin. It provides a dramatic frame for the eyes. For darker skinned tones, it adds drama to fringe.

classic black mascara looks all well and good but there’s also a serious cause to be brown lashes. If you have fair skin and prefer a natural look, a rich brown mascara is your best friend! the softer brown tone harmonize with blondlight brown, or even light red hair, so that no one but you will know you have invisible eyelashes!

TIPS

Apply a small dot of highlighting colour to the inner corner of your eyes, to draw attention to your beautiful blue eyes.

Keep your eyeliner tight to the upper lash line, or just fill in the whole eyelid.
